The contract, which was won in a price and design competition, is valued at more than NOK 1.2 billion excluding VAT.
About the project
Oksenøya centre consists of three purpose buildings. Five parallel primary schools for 1,050 pupils with associated multipurpose hall and outdoor facilities. Living and treatment centre for 150 residents and communal garage facilities in basements for the three purpose buildings. Kindergarten with 6 units for 300 children. The project as a whole amounts to approx. 30,000 GFA.
- “This will be a very special community centre where Bærum municipality will combine many functions for the young and elderly at the same site for unique interaction between the various buildings. At the same time, the project has very high ambitions in terms of sustainability and the environment, and this is something we really appreciate,” says Erik Økland, head of department for public projects at Veidekke Bygg Oslo.
Solutions we want to highlight
The project has high environmental ambitions and has extensive use of wood. All buildings are delivered with wooden facades, and BBS and kindergarten are delivered as solid wood projects. The project shall be delivered with a grade of BREEAM-NOR outstanding and is a FutureBuilt project. BREEAM-NOR class Outstanding, is the highest level that only a handful of projects have achieved in Norway. The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a minimum of 50% in transport, energy and material use.
Process and collaboration
The project has reviewed the detailing phase of the pre-project in close cooperation with Bærum municipality and their user groups. Construction work will start at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020, and completion is estimated to be in the spring of 2022 for the school and kindergarten, while the living and care centre will be completed in December 2022.
