Bærum Municipality has awarded Veidekke the contract to build the new Levre Primary School. The contract was won in a price and design competition with a subsequent collaboration phase. The turnkey contract is worth NOK 236 million excluding VAT.
The new Levre School is being built for four parallel classes per year group, and will be prepared for future expansion in order to accommodate growth in the municipality. Rooms and spaces have been designed with multiple uses in mind, which will provide flexibility for different teaching methods. In addition to the bright and modern teaching facilities, the school is also designed to be a good local community facility. The sports hall, assembly hall, serving kitchen, music room, rehearsal space etc. are located to be easily accessible from the foyer outside of school hours. The outdoor spaces are designed to stimulate activity, learning and social gathering, well-suited to events and recreation for the local community.
The project has clear environmental ambitions. A solar cell installation will be integrated with the facade on parts of the building, and district heating will be used for drying and heating during the construction period. In collaboration with the municipality, a new tool for the monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions during the construction project will be tested. This will enable the most environmentally friendly selection of materials and solutions.
- Throughout the collaboration period, the project is being further developed in close collaboration with Bærum Municipality. The project group has worked closely with both the client and the school to ensure that the school and outdoor areas are in line with the wishes, needs and requirements of the customer and users. Building good educational facilities with clear environmental ambitions is something that we place great value in, says Erik Økland, head of the department for public buildings. We thank Bærum Municipality for the trust, the good collaboration so far, and we look forward to getting started with this exciting project, concludes Økland.
Demolition of the old Levre School started in February, and the construction of the new school starts at the beginning of May 2018. The handover to Bærum Municipality is in May 2020. Veidekke will then operate and maintain the school for five years.
