“We are very pleased to have won this commission in tough competition with four other contractors. Building good schools is one of the most important tasks we have as a society, and it is especially satisfying that the project will be environmentally certified. We are grateful for the confidence shown in us and look forward to delivering a great project,” says General Manager Bjørn Ove Liavaag of Seby AS.
The increase in the number of students in Romerike means that there is a need to expand the school from 1,200 to 1,500 student places. Veidekke will demolish parts of the current main building, and build an extension as well as a 10,000 m2 new build in massive wood. The contract also includes some rehabilitation and remodelling, as well as new access routes and reorganisation of the outdoor areas. The new build will be environmentally certified in accordance with the BREEAM-NOR Very Good level.
"This is one of the major school development projects for Akershus County Council in the coming years, and it will provide both students and staff with excellent facilities for learning and development. This is going to be very good, and I look forward to seeing the result," says Lise Hagen Rebbestad (H), County Councilor for Education and Competence in Akershus County Council.
Demolition will start as soon as before Christmas, and the school is scheduled to be completed for the start of the school year in 2027. The commission is included in Veidekke’s order book for the fourth quarter.
