The admissions building will be a combined office building with entrance facilities and canteen functions for staff and visitors. The building, with its total floor space of 13,400 m2 spread over five stories, will be situated between the psychiatry building and the somatic health building. Veidekke’s contract includes everything from planning to design, construction, a test phase and commissioning until the new hospital is complete in 2025.
“We are proud to have been chosen again and are very grateful for the continued trust. There is little that a contractor enjoys more than the chance to build a modern, future-oriented hospital that will benefit and please patients, relatives and staff. We are, therefore, extremely satisfied and look forward to expanding our collaboration with the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority’s project team,” says Head of Department Marianne Haugen of Veidekke Bygg.
This will be Veidekke’s second major contract for the new hospital in Drammen. In April, the company was contracted to build three buildings for mental health and substance abuse services worth NOK 770 million.
“With Veidekke we are getting a solid contractor that will help to ensure patients, staff and visitors receive a good welcome to the new hospital. We look forward to our continued collaboration with Veidekke in this new area,” says Project Director Arnstein Hodne of the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority.
Building works will start in August with takeover scheduled for November 2024. Read more about the project here.
