“We’re looking forward to starting up an interesting environmental project for NRA. To us as a contractor, it’s motivating to build a future-oriented production plant for climate-friendly biogas, and we really appreciate the confidence shown in us and the contract,” says general manager Bjørn Ove Liavaag of Seby AS.
The production buildings will be approximately 6,000 m2 in size and include a process building, sludge reception, dewatering building and administration building. The biogas plant will receive sludge from a separate treatment plant and several other treatment plants in the eastern Norway region. The plant ensures sustainable management of the sewerage sludge by extracting energy in the form’ of biogas that will be upgraded to green hydrogen.
“The project to produce hydrogen is probably among the region’s greatest contributions to national environmental targets and the UN’s sustainability targets. Hydrogen production is an important environmental measure and a right step on the way to a circular economy, so this is a measure to meet the future and contribute to the green shift. Seby is a committed and solid partner with a distinct environmental profile that will be a key contributor to the success of the project,” says projectleader Jon Mills with NRA.
Construction work will be carried out in accordance with stringent measures in the environmental follow-up plan for minimal impact on the natural environment. The project will comply with NRA’s requirements to ensure the use of apprentices, combating work-related crime and social dumping. Construction will start in August 2022 and completion is scheduled for June 2024.
