“We are proud to have won another huge contract for the production and laying of asphalt in a major road project. Effiage is a new customer who we are looking forward to working with, and we appreciate the commission and the trust they have shown in us,” says Martin Holmqvist, director of Veidekke Asfalt.
Eiffage Norway is the design and build contractor for the new E18 Rugtvedt-Langangen section for Nye Veier. This is a complex project involving the construction of 17 kilometers of four-lane motorway where much consists of tunnels and large bridge structures, such as the new 600-metre Grenland Bridge.
“We will produce the asphalt at our plants in Larvik and Skien. A significant volume of recycled asphalt will be used, including from the old section on the E18 road. We also hope to reuse rock from tunnel driving in the area for new asphalt if the quality is satisfactory. This will reduce the need to extract natural resources and at the same time be very local raw materials, which is very positive for the environment and in line with our commitment to sustainability,” Holmqvist concludes.
The asphalt contract extends for three years. Startup is in the spring, while the largest volumes will be laid in 2025 and before the road opens in 2026. Read more about the project here.
