Two new building construction contracts in Vejle and Copenhagen, Denmark

Veidekke’s Danish subsidiary Hoffmann A/S has signed contracts for two new projects in Denmark, Mineralvandsfabrikken in Copenhagen and a new police college in Vejle. The contract values are DKK 330 million and DKK 260 million, respectively, and both projects are scheduled for completion in 2020.

Mineralvandsfabrikken constitutes an entire city block in central Copenhagen, with commercial premises and 69 new homes. When the project is completed, it will comprise just over 17,500 square meters, of which newbuilt and converted areas each comprise half. There is also a basement area of 2 250 square meters. The building mass currently on the site is listed for protection and will be renovated for commercial use.

The Carlsberg Group’s former brewery site in Copenhagen is currently undergoing extensive renovation and development, and Hoffmann has already built a hotel for the same customer on the site. The Mineralvandsfabrikken project has been developed in close cooperation with the customer Carlsberg Byen P/S and consultants.

Uddannelsescenter Vest (UCV), the Danish National Police’s new police college in Vejle will comprise a total area of 20 000 square metres, half of which will be new construction in between existing buildings. The project also includes the renovation of an old college of nursing, which will be converted into student housing, and the demolition or conversion of other buildings located on the campus.

The new police college must comply with all special police college requirements. In addition to housing classrooms, auditorium, fitness rooms and gymnasium, the UVC will include police operation training facilities. From the cafeteria and lounge areas located in the atrium running through the school campus, the police college students will be able to follow many of the ongoing activities. The campus will also include accommodation designated for continuing and further education, as well as the administration department and indoor and outdoor facilities for simulation and practice.

“Both projects exemplify the dedicated efforts of our people in Copenhagen and Jutland. We continue to build on our competence and business model, which is to deliver value through the early and strong involvement of all parties. In this manner, we can exploit our whole range of expertise to deliver buildings that provide customers and users with the greatest value possible,” said Torben Bjørk Nielsen, CEO of Hoffmann A/S.
