Sundbyskolan was built in the 1950s and will now be remodeled to meet current needs and standards. The school’s capacity will also be expanded to 1,200 students, compared to 821 today. Two new buildings will be constructed to accommodate grades preschool through third and seventh through ninth, respectively, and existing buildings will undergo moderations. The lunch room and commercial kitchen will also be refurbished and expanded to make room for more students. Also included in the contract is the demolition of two existing pavilions. The new buildings will be constructed in accordance with the Miljöbyggnad Silver standard. As the school will be in operation throughout the construction period, great emphasis is placed on logistics, working environment, and consideration for third parties.
“SISAB and the education administration look forward to realising the plans on behalf of Sundbyskolan’s students and staff, in collaboration with Arcona. This is an excellent project, where everyone involved shares a great joint responsibility towards the children and the city of Stockholm,” says Kamran Lotfi, project manager at SISAB.
“We are proud to continue our collaboration with SISAB and the education administration through another great project. Being able to contribute to providing our children with new and modern educational premises, is always exciting, says Niklas Blomdahl, project manager at Arcona.
Currently under construction by Arcona for SISAB are Skanskvarnsskolan in Årsta and Vasa Real upper secondary school at Odenplan. Arcona recently completed Framtidens förskola Blågull in Hässelby and conducted comprehensive renovation of Östra Real upper secondary school for the same client.
The contract is included in the order book for the first quarter 2021.
