Today Veidekke Entreprenør has signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) to rehabilitate the Høyanger tunnel on secondary road 55 in Sogn og Fjordane. The value of the contract is NOK 106 million excluding VAT.
The tunnel is 7.5 kilometres in length and links the municipalities of Høyanger and Balestrand. The work includes groundwork, blasting new caverns, extensive securing work with new water and frost protection, and electrical installations. The tunnel will be open for traffic during the entire construction period, but with convoys tailored for scheduled traffic.
"This is an important project for us. The market for rehabilitating road tunnels is extremely tough, and in this case there were 10 bidders. We will encounter a project organization in the NPRA we know well from previous construction projects, and we are looking forward to constructive collaboration," says head of department Anders Haaland of Veidekke.
Work starts in October, and is to be completed in the summer of 2016.
