The new “Mässtunneln” tunnel will run from Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö through Solberga, Västberga and Midsommarkransen to Liljeholmen. Veidekke's assignment comprises the construction of the 4 km long tunnel with an associated access tunnel. The access tunnel will be built at Kontrollvägen in northern Solberga, from which the wastewater tunnel will be blasted and drilled in two directions. Construction is scheduled to start in December, with the tunnel scheduled to be operational in 2030.
“We very much appreciate having Stockholm Vatten och Avfall’s continued confidence, and look forward to cooperating on yet another project to improve Stockholm's environment,” says Tomas Karlsson in Veidekke Anläggning Öst.
Mässtunneln is yet another stage in the effort to ensure the long-term handling of Stockholm's wastewater. The new tunnel will relieve the current wastewater system, enable more residential construction in the Stockholmsmässan area, and reduce flood risk in the event of torrential rain.
The contract is included in the order book for Q4 2023.
