Veidekke's subsidiary Arcona has been contracted by Kommunfastigheter in Knivsta to build Vrå School in Alsike south of Uppsala. The project is a collaborative turnkey contract with a target value of SEK 169 million, excluding VAT.
Vrå School will be a new school for 660 pupils from the fifth to ninth grades. The building will have a floor area of approximately 8,000 m2 in size and will be so energy-efficient that it will comply with passive house standards. With geothermal heating and solar panels, the goal is to achieve annual energy consumption of less than 15 kWh/m2.
"We are extremely pleased that Kommunfastigheter in Knivsta has selected Arcona as contractor for the new passive house school. We will take up work with great pleasure and humility, and view the contract as recognition of our strength in carrying out collaborative contracts with ambitious environmental targets," says Stefan Mårtensson with Arcona.
