The VÅGA water tower in Varberg is a collaborative project, with responsibility for plans, design and execution shared between Veidekke and VIVAB. Varberg municipality has now passed the final resolution to start construction of the water tower, which’ daring design has attracted attention in Sweden and internationally before ground has even been broken.

“We are very much looking forward to starting the next phase of the VÅGA project together. Such complex projects place great demands on collaborative skills and are very well aligned with Veidekke's way of working,” says Maria Östman, department manager at Veidekke Anläggning SydVäst.

“We are now ready for construction, which according to plans will start in February. Over the past year, we have, in close collaboration with Veidekke, completed the design of the new VÅGA water tower. We have had to consider many different aspects along the way, but that phase is now completed. Once the project is finished, we will have a technically efficient facility that will also provide Varberg with a new landmark,” says Agneta Johansson, VÅGA project manager at VIVAB.

Located at Bastekullen in Träslöv, VÅGA will become a landmark that is visible both from the city of Varberg and from the E6. The design of the tower was decided in the autumn of 2018. The water tank itself is located at a higher elevation than in the current tower and will have five times more capacity, enabling VIVAB to ensure water supply to an expanding municipality while at the same time minimising risk of disruptions in the delivery to its inhabitants.
