“We are very pleased that Q-Meieriene AS has selected Veidekke, and are grateful for the confidence shown in us. We have extensive experience with this type of project, and are looking forward to building an attractive and forward-looking industrial building in close partnership with Q-Meieriene,” says Regional Director Are Westbye of Veidekke.
“We’re looking forward to partnering with Veidekke on developing Q-Meieriet in Jæren,” says Managing Director of Q-Meieriene, Bent Myrdahl. “Our plan with the development is to strengthen our role in the dairy market as challenger and innovator. We shall also interact with Veidekke on building an aesthetically pleasing and climate-smart building that both promotes good building traditions and the food industry in Jæren,” the Q Manager says, who is also looking forward to opening the plant on 31 December 2020 at 5 p.m.
The current plant in Jæren is 3,500 m2 in size, and is to be extended by 8,400 m2. The new building will accommodate offices, production premises and cold storage, and will have a base area of 5,800 m2 and 850 m2 on the top floor. The building will be a concrete element building with sanded white façades produced and supplied by Veidekke’s subsidiary Block Berge Bygg in Klepp.
As design and build contractor, Veidekke will be responsible for all disciplines from groundwork to finished building. Additionally, a major delivery of a processing facility and equipment is planned that will be integrated in the building. Veidekke will start construction in the summer, and the project is scheduled for completion at the 2020/2021 turn of the year.
