Veidekke to build for the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences in Stockholm

Veidekke Entreprenad has signed a contract with Akademiska Hus for a new building and remodelling of offices for the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences (GIH) at Stockholm Olympic Stadium. The value of the contract is SEK 117 million excluding VAT.

GIH has since its inception in 1813 been Sweden's foremost centre of knowledge on sport, physical activity and health. "Being given the chance to contribute towards developing GIH's successful operations in Stockholm with this fine building is very inspiring. The modern premises GIH needs to ease cooperation with schools, the sports movement and stakeholders in the health care services is long overdue. Together with Veidekke Entreprenad we will create such premises," says Sten Wetterblad, regional director of Akademiska Hus Stockholm.

"Veidekke Entreprenad and Akademiska Hus have for a long time cooperated to our mutual benefit, and as an avid athlete during my spare time it is particularly satisfying to contribute towards providing new premises for the world's oldest centre of knowledge for sports," says regional manager Mikael Lidström of Veidekke Entreprenad.

The new office building will have a floor area of 4000 m2, and the area for remodelling is 2000 m2 in size. Construction commences next year and is to be completed in the course of 2012.
