Veidekke receives a further commission for the Vänerbanan railway

Veidekke Entreprenad AB, Region West has been commissioned by BanaVäg i Väst to build 2.5 km of double track railway line on the Vänerbanan between Göteborg and Trollhättan.  The contract value is SEK 175 million.

 

This is a further part of the project to develop the E45 to motorway standard and the Vänerbanan into double track and consists of building 2.5 km of double track railway line and substantial ground reinforcement with concrete piling.

 

"We are pleased that we are building yet another section of the Vänerbanan line. The project will take two years and will be a good development base for our activities," says project manager Johan Gynnerstedt.

 

The contract sum for this section is SEK 175 million . The construction will be taking place between now and summer 2012.

 

BanaVäg i Väst is a major infrastructure project for social development. In total the Swedish rail and road administrations are building 75 kilometres of four lane road and double track railway between Göteborg and Trollhättan. The development will also have positive environmental effects, including building new pedestrian and cycle paths, cleaning polluted ground and providing the Göta river with better protection against emissions and pollution.

 

Veidekke is already involved in the development of the E45 and Vänerbanan and is upgrading 1.3 km of railway to double track, building 800 m of the E45 to motorway, two large railway bridges and extensive cabling for Banverket, as well as building a 1.8 km rail tunnel for Peab and Banverket (Hede-Älvängen section),
