Veidekke's subsidiary, Block Berge Bygg AS, has been awarded a contract to build a new office building at Forus for GM Eiendom AS. The value of the turnkey project is NOK 141 million excluding VAT.
The project at Forus in Sola Municipality will total approximately 12,500 m² over six floors, including a fitness facility and parking garage. The architect is Kvalvik & Kaada Arkitekter AS in Stavanger.
The project will feature "green" and energy elements in the form of bearing concrete facades and will be delivered as an energy-efficient building in energy class B. The concrete elements will be manufactured at Block Berge Bygg AS's element factory at Klepp and will be delivered with a semi-polished black concrete surface.
The office building will be the workplace of employees of Global Maritime AS and PricewaterhouseCoopers AS.
Construction will commence now in April, with occupancy scheduled for September 2011.
"With our concept that is based on a lot of proprietary technology and advanced use of concrete elements, it is always good news to win competitions like this one," says Yngvar Karlsen, Managing Director of Block Berge Bygg AS.
"Again we see that a higher degree of industrialization makes us more competitive, where direct construction costs, energy-efficient solutions and efficient construction time are key," Karlsen adds.
